Background information: In addition to the bi-directional standard operation mode, parallel PC cards allow for disruption-free connection to printers at distances of up to 100 m by activating a line driver function. Standard Centronics ports are designed for cable lengths of max. 5 m. Depending on the quality of the cable and interference from outside, longer cables are prone to errors, which can be reliably eliminated by using the "W&T long distance mode". We have deliberately not used highly integrated solutions in the design, but concentrated on robust, discrete components so that our PC cards have an excellent failure safety. The complete decoding of all available address bits ensures that there are no conflicts with other PC cards.
