Application for the Web-IO Digital:
Extend your digital I/O lines via the network
When the alarm output in Bonn triggered off an indicator lamp in Berlin, the project manager had a nervous breakdown, after he had handed up and down this single bit through the whole automation pyramid. By a lucky chance, a good friend knew about a solution for such cases that is available from W&T.
The details
The digital I/O Com-Servers allow for the selection and configuration of up to 12 inputs and outputs via the Ethernet by means of the TCP/IP protocol. A standard requirement of industrial applications is for example the transfer of a switching status or an alarm output to a remote location, where it is digitally displayed. The box-to-box mode of the I/O Com-Server provides the ideal solution and is particularly cost-effective. Statuses at the inputs are transferred over the network to the partner box, where they are made available at the corresponding outputs. The I/O handling can of course also be integrated in an existing application at socket level or by means of OPC integration. All you have to know for the proper installation is explained in the supplied documentation.
