Application for USB-Server

USB camera in the network

USB Server

Access to stationary USB camera in series production

A stationary infrared camera is needed for thermal inspection of parts in a series production system. The camera model used here uses a USB port as the communications interface, so that a solution for the following customer requirements had to be found:

- Installation of a PC in range of the permissible USB cable lengths is not possible.
- The images should be able to be viewed at various workstations.
- The visualizing and processing programs sometimes run on virtualized systems.

Connect to the network via USB device server

At the location in question a USB Server is installed which connects the camera to the network. The USB Redirector installed on the potential computers ensures that the USB camera is available and looks like it were locally connected.

Flexible use of the USB camera in production

Integrating the USB camera via a USB server keeps the on-site installation particularly flexible. This allows, for example, heat analysis to be centrally controlled without having to place technical devices directly on the production line. This not only reduces maintenance costs, but also enables a clear separation between sensitive production environments and IT infrastructure.

Scalable access to the USB camera in the network

In addition, companies benefit from significantly higher scalability: additional workstations or virtual machines can access the USB camera at any time. without having to physically reconnect the hardware. This allows evaluations to be carried out in parallel, processes to be automated, and sources of error to be identified more quickly. This is ideal for modern production lines with high quality requirements.
