USB Device Server

Simple remoting of USB devices into a network

Deploy USB devices over the network

USB Servers from Wiesemann & Theis let you reliably integrate any USB device into industrial, private, and public networks. They extend local and length-limited USB connections by the range of the network, thereby allowing location-independent access to USB hardware. With the W&T USB Device Server, you can centrally provide USB devices and use them via the local network or even from virtual machines—without any physical proximity between the PC and the device.

  • A strong duo:
USB Server and USB Redirector from W&T

A USB device server lets you access USB devices such as scanners, cameras, dongles, or printers via TCP/IP. After connecting the USB device to the USB server, it can be used in exactly the same way as if it were connected directly to the computer. W&T USB Redirector supports both Windows and Linux systems and allows access from both physical and virtual machines. This makes integration into existing IT structures particularly easy and secure.

  • Centralized administration, shared resources

A key advantage of USB device servers is the ability to provide USB resources centrally. In industrial environments, this means less cabling, clear structures, and greater flexibility for you. A USB scanner in a production environment or a USB camera can be used from different workstations via the network. Specialized measuring devices or dongles can also be made available across multiple locations.

  • W&T USB Device Servers: highly compatible & robust

The USB Device Servers from Wiesemann & Theis feature interoperability of over 99%. This means that almost every USB device is supported—from simple input devices to complex video or audio peripherals.

  • Rugged design for continuous 24/7 industrial operation

The W&T Device Servers are designed for reliable use in demanding industrial environments. Their rugged housing, high-quality components, and continuous operation (24/7) designed hardware ensures long-term stability and operational reliability.

Thanks to DIN rail mounting, industrial supply voltage (24V DC) and extended temperature range, the devices can be easily integrated into control cabinets, machine controls, or test systems. This makes them ideal for applications where continuous, fail-safe operation is essential.

  • Application example:
USB camera via network & dongle server

A classic application scenario is the use of a USB camera over the network, for example in quality control or process monitoring. The devices also provide valuable services as dongle servers: software licenses no longer need to be physically transferred, but can be shared between workstations with a single click. This enables companies to increase their efficiency and reduce downtime. It also eliminates the risk of losing a dongle.

  • Integration and USB expansion in the network

Models such as the USB Server Gigabit 3.0 enable maximum data rates for video or audio applications, for example. The "WuTility" and "USB Redirector" software tools make it easy to perform installation, management, and inventory tasks via the network.
