WLAN Client Bridge

The WLAN Client Bridge from Wiesemann & Theis incorporates Ethernet islands with any number of 100/1000BaseT stations into a WLAN. Typical applications are subnetworks at remote locations or on mobile equipment such as cranes, where routing new cable is possible either at great expense or not at all.

The WLAN Client Bridge acts as a central WLAN interface for the entire network island and incorporates the copper-based devices into the WLAN or main network as if they were equipped with their own WLAN interface. From a technical standpoint the WLAN Client Bridge is comparable to a standard Ethernet switch in that it operates purely on the Ethernet level. This means startup can be limited to simply assigning the WLAN parameters.

The WLAN Client Bridge, which is designed for 24/7 operation, features an industrial housing and supports connection of external antennas. Power is provided by Power-over-Ethernet or externally with 24V DC. On the WLAN side 802.11b/g/n with WPA2 are supported up to a gross data throughput of 150Mbit/s. The LAN interface is autosensing/autocrossing both with 100BaseT and Gigabit Ethernet.
