Trap Receiver issues an alarm

Many network components can issue error messages and warnings via SNMP (Service Network Management Protocol).

An SNMP management system is required in the network for evaluating SNMP traps (messages). Since such systems are usually expensive and complicated to set up, they are rarely used in smaller and medium-size networks.

The W&T Trap Receiver is a small, economical hardware component and can receive SNMP traps, evaluate them and inform the administrator of faulty network components. In case of alarm a switching output can be used to turn on a lamp or switch on an acoustic device. An email can also be sent to any desired recipient. This tells the administrator what he needs to know even if he does not happen to be on-site.
