Network monitoring
with the IP Watcher
Device failure or network fault causes alarm to be issued
The IP Watcher can be used to monitor up to 100 IP addresses and TCP accesses: If a device fails or the IP address or a specific port is no longer accessible, the IP Watcher sounds the alarm. The IP Watcher sends an alarm by e-mail or switches alarm devices such as lamps, horns or other fault signaling devices.
Monitor IPs and check TCP ports cyclically for accessibility
In the age of Industry 4.0 and IoT, more and more devices are communicating via the network or even via internet connections. If the work PC has no network connection, the user notices this immediately. However, if components such as cameras, light barriers or other sensors fail, this is often only recognized far too late. And even if the respective components are accessible, it can happen that individual services on certain ports such as web servers, mail or FTP servers are temporarily unavailable. The W&T IP Watcher monitors up to 100 network participants cyclically via ICMP (ping) or the accessibility of TCP ports and sounds an alarm in the event of problems.
Network monitoring: Report by e-mail or physical alert
The unavailability of components or services is reported immediately by e-mail to the responsible admin or a configurable distribution list. The messages can be repeated cyclically until the desired status is restored. This allows you to stay informed about the status of your network remotely. In the event of critical failures, the alarm can also be signaled via a switching contact. This means that fault signaling devices, warning lights or horns can be activated on site to report the status change. The alert can be physically acknowledged and ended via a switch or another input.
Immediate overview and easy startup
The browser provides the user with an overview of the status of the monitored network nodes and ports at a glance. Configuration is also carried out via the browser interface and is easy to manage without specialized IT knowledge: Simply enter the IP addresses and TCP ports to be monitored in the inventory list, configure who is to be informed in the event of an alarm and whether a contact should also be activated - that’s it!
Secure operation in office or industrial environments
The IP Watcher is no larger than a pack of cigarettes, and with its 24V power requirement and ease of installation it is ideal for DIN rail mounting in the control cabinet or network enclosure. Alternately the IP Watcher can also be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet). Thanks to low emissions levels, high noise immunity and low power consumption the IP Watcher is ideal for all office and industrial environments.
Hardware-based network monitoring: simple and autonomous
With the IP Watcher, you can implement status monitoring of devices and TCP ports completely and reliably without having to purchase and manage extensive network analysis systems. In contrast to server-based monitoring solutions, the IP Watcher also works autonomously. This means that there is no interference from other applications or system updates that could impair the function.
