Worth knowing

Security against lightning strikes:
There’s no protection against a direct lightning strike, since the energy potential of lightning is simply too great. But electronic data processing equipment can be effectively protected against lightning strikes farther away. With a dielectric strength of the isolator of 50kV, the residual probability of damage from lightning is extremely low.

The experience of the last few years shows that customers, who had considerable damage done to their IT devices by lightning, reported no such incidents since they had installed isolators.
