Properties

General information

  • Handy cable solution: Interface integrated into 9-pin SUB-D housing
  • Joint solution for the Windows, Linux, and Mac world
  • No additional power supply necessary:
    • Voltage supply via the USB
  • Software compatible with the W&T USB industrial interfaces
  • USB 2.0 Full Speed Device (12 Mbit/s)
  • Maximum speed of the serial interface: 1 Mbaud
  • Addressable as virtual COM interface under
    Windows 98 / Me / 2000 / XP / Server 2003 / Vista / Server 2008 (x86 and x64)
  • Supports Mac OS 8, OS 9 and OS X
  • Direct Linux support without additional driver from kernel version 2.4.0
  • Support of all RS232 data and handshake lines
    • RxD, TxD, RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR, DCD, RI
  • Conforms to standards both in office and industrial environments:
    • High noise resistance per EN 61000-6-2
    • Low noise emission per EN 55032:2015 + A1 Cl. B, EN 61000-3-2 & EN 61000-3-3

For several years now, the RS232 interface has been established as a well-proven interface for connecting serial end devices over short and medium distances. In order to be able to rely on this dependable standard in the future too, with the interface cable USB <> RS232, Wiesemann & Theis provides a converter in the form of a connection cable having a length of two meters which even enables the connection of your RS232 devices to computers that do not have a serial interface.

The converter fulfils the industrial noise immunity standard specification EN61000-6-2 and the emission standard specification EN55022B. For that reason, despite its miniature design and its attractive price, the interface cable can be deployed without restriction not only in the industrial environment but also in the office domain.
